Meet the Burton Tourist snowboard boots. A new backcountry-specific design build for splitboards, that debuted during the 2015 – 2016 season. The Burton team used the iconic design of the Burton ION. And turned it into the ultimate all-round splitboard boot for going up and down the mountain. Compared to the more ‘regular’ snowboarding boots, this one has gone through numerous upgrades. Including a ‘Vibram’ sole for improved grip and traction. As well as an increased negative flex behind the calf.
Although this didn’t add that much extra motion. It does relieve some of the pressure points regular boots place right behind your calf. Especially when you’re walking through the more rougher backcountry areas. Fine tuning this boot is quite easy as it has separate upper and lower lacing. New for this season is the thermo-moldable Life Liner. Which offers a nice balance between support and plushy comfort. Special cushioning underfoot not only creates a better board feel but also doesn’t sacrifice on dampening vibrations. Overall, the tour-specific features combined with time-tested comfort. Makes the Burton Tourist snowboard boots one of the best options for determined splitboarders.
