GNU Snowboards was founded in the early 80’s by Mike Olsen who already builds snowboards since 1977 and who invented the deep carving sidecuts. The company develops snowboards and bindings for all kinds of riders at different ability levels. From beginners to experts and from all-mountain to powder.
Each year they receive multiple awards for their innovative products and gets lots of credits for the artistic design of their snowboard graphics. Their team of experienced riders is well involved in further pushing the development of their latest snowboards. Continuously experimenting with mysterious materials, bizarre geometries, contours, and board shapes.
Today the company is part of Mervin Manufacturing. One of the longest running and last major board building factory in the USA. Mervin is not only the parent company of GNU Snowboards but also of Lib Technologies (Lib Tech), Roxy Snowboards, and Bent Metal Bindings. All boards designed by the guys at GNU are hand built by snowboarders at the manufacturing plant in Washington State.
