Review

Earn your turns with one of the easiest to ride split-boards on the market today. The 2017 Burton Family Tree Anti-Social snowboard will allow you to seek out the freedom and fitness of exploring the backcountry areas. Most split-boards have drilled inserts to mount the bindings. However, these inserts limit the range of angles, making setting your preferred stance a challenge. Therefore Burton fitted this board with their Channel Mounting system, making it much easier to attach your binding and adjust your stance.

This board’s design features a Tapered Directional shape with a rocker camber profile. The board’s entry-rocker enables the long nose to stay afloat on powder, while the camber underfoot enables you to make powerful turns. It also provides the grip needed for a fast ride to the top. The 12mm of taper means that its nose is wider than the tail. Which helps you to stay above the most deepest powder. Meanwhile, this board’s energetic and lightweight core provides additional pop and power. On snow, it offers a combination of a floaty and lightweight feel and a smooth effortless glide. Exploring the mountains was fun and easy. While this board is most responsive and playful, it still gives you lots of stability. It rides similar to this season’s Burton Family Tree Day Trader we tested earlier but feels slightly stiffer.

The shorter edge holds surprisingly well on firm snow and the larger nose is great in softer conditions. This board also picks up speed nicely, without getting to chattery. Overall, the 2017 Burton Family Tree Anti-Social snowboard is a well-performing and versatile split-board that will make your backcountry adventures so much more fun. We do advise you to have your local snowboard shop install the split kit.
