Review

Start boosting your performance in the deep and steep with effortless float and supreme control. The 2017 Burton Family Tree Day Trader snowboard is a versatile and surfy deck that thrives on all terrain. Burton developed this board in cooperation with the freeride expert Kimmy Fasani. Their aim was to build a board that explores the off-piste areas with ease and also offers just as much fun on groomers. The board’s directional flat profile provides stability and control. While the early rise kicks add the effortless float needed to handle the varying backcountry conditions. Play on the deep, arc on the steeps.

The flat profile ensures the board remains surfy on powder without that squirrely feel when you’re landing. It also provides a reliable amount of edge hold on harder snow. Its setback stance and tapered tail will keep the nose above deep snow. Meanwhile, it keeps the tail in the snow to give you more steering power. On snow, this rides really stable. However, it tends to slide a bit more underfoot than we expected. In particular on harder snow. But that’s ok since this is much more a powder board. It’s quick from edge-to-edge and turns easily anywhere you want to ride. On flat sections, this board will hold its speed well. Without getting to chattery. This board’s smaller size allows you to quickly navigate through rough terrain.

Overall, the 2017 Burton Family Tree Day Trader snowboard is built for those who like to rip the entire mountain. Especially after a fresh blanket of snow has arrived. When the mountains are calling and you want to head into the backcountry. Make sure this snowboard is in the back of your car.
