Hands down the easiest one out there. The 2017 Burton Genie snowboard is a great choice for women who are looking to build a strong snowboarding foundation. Before moving to a more performance-oriented board like the Burton Feather we testes earlier. For the beginners amongst us, this board is the closest thing to having a friend guiding you down the mountain. The Burton team designed it with progression in their mind and it’s now one of their most forgiving snowboards.
The board’s True Twin shape makes it easier to find the right stance as it rides equally well in both directions. Its soft flex allows you to turn easily without any excess stiffness holding you back. The Flat to Rocker profile provides a stable platform for learning your craft. The flat camber feels confident when riding at speed, while the early rise in the tip and tail prevent you from catching an edge. On snow, this board feels stable between the feet. Turning is quite fun but it’s not that springy. Although it’s not a dedicated carver, it can hold a carve in softer snow. While it planes nicely in powder it misses edge hold to handle icy snow. Better to avoid those conditions.
When it comes to jumping this board is not as poppy as other boards. But in return you get catch-free stability that helps you improve your riding. Overall, the 2017 Burton Genie snowboard provides a stable platform for good board control and better balance. It’s the board you want to buy when you no longer want to use any of the rentals at your local resorts.
