Build for the all-round rider who likes to master all facets of the mountain, the 2017 CAPiTA Mercury snowboard is back again for another season. With special high-tech features designed to plane on powder and to grip on hardpack, this board will let you ride all season long. It’s no surprise this CAPiTA board has consistently won multiple snowboard awards year after year.
This board’s design features a Directional Twin shape combined with a Hybrid Camber profile. The rocker outside the bindings will provide flotation on deep powder while adding a bit of forgiveness on hardpack. The camber zones enable a powerful pop and reliable edge hold. Other than a few minor tweaks this board hasn’t changed much compared to one we tested last season. Although it’s still not a forgiving ride, on snow this board feels stable and less catchy. Its personality is similar to other all-mountain board but with a bit more aggression. If you are a strong rider this board will give you lots of room to play around.
In order to get this board turn quickly, you will need a good combination of bindings and boots. This will improve its quickness from edge-to-edge. On powder, this board offers a surfy kind of float, which is thanks to its longer nose. We encountered some rough terrain and it wasn’t super easy but controllable. At high speed however, this board remained really stable. Because this board has a nice snap to it, jumping becoming lots of fun. Especially on natural features. Overall, the 2017 CAPiTA Mercury snowboard is a versatile deck that offers a fun ride with an aggressive touch.
