Why limit yourself to one particular riding style? With the 2017 GNU Metal Gnuru snowboard you will never have to restrain your terrain choice ever again. As a true quiver killer this fun-focussed freestyle board can be taken anywhere on the mountain. It offers all the cool tech you would expect from the board wizards at GNU. Fitted in an accessible package for snowboarders of all ability levels.
This board fits in the middle between the loose and playful boards and the powerful board GNU builds. Its asymmetrical twin shape features rocker between the feet with an elliptical camber that extends from the inserts out to the board’s contact points. The rocker will provide good float on powder, easy turn initiation as well as catch-free jibbing. Meanwhile the camber gives enhanced pop, more power and better response.
On snow, this board really surprised us. It rides nice and stable in good conditions with a real playful character. However on more harder icy surfaces it does tend to slide a bit underfoot. Overall the edge hold and grip is pretty good but for those who like to ride on ice this is not the one. Turning is easy and this board has no problem with laying down some wider carves. Although it doesn’t have the fastest base it holds well and picks up speed nicely. On uneven terrain this board is able to handle most conditions. Do get bindings with extra shock absorption. It will make the ride more comfortable.
Overall, the 2017 GNU Metal Gnuru snowboard offers a crisp and lively ride. This board is a good choice for those who want a snowboard that’s equally suited for both park laps and all-mountain freestyle riding.
