As an all-mountain freestyle tool for experienced riders, the 2017 Jones Ultra Mountain Twin is build to serve riders who are looking to take their entire game to the next level. Based on the proven Directional Twin shape of the award-winning Jones Mountain Twin. The Ultra version adds carbon stringers and a full Ultra construction, which aim to bring extra power and stability. In addition to that, the board’s shape is set-back enough to provide enough float through deep snow.
This board’s Hybrid Camber profile features camber underfoot which adds stability and a powerful response, as well as rocker along the tip and tail for extra flotation. When you’re buttering and pressing this set-up will give the board a loose and catch-free feel. Beneath the hood, this board features triple-density wood, which provides high levels of strength. Plus extra impact resistance for when you accidentally run into rocks. On snow, the hybrid camber profile gives a nice and stable ride without feeling to catchy. Similar to the Jones Mountain Twin this is a board that rides a variety of conditions consistently well. Turning goes quick from edge-to-edge with a nice amount of pop out of the turn. It carves nicely and the new tip / tail shape definitely helps to lay down some medium sizes carves.
The edge hold has a good balance, as this board doesn’t grip too hard of softer snow but does not hold properly on harder snow conditions. Although it feels softer than last season, this board rides stable and fast while capable of handling bumpy resort snow. Because this board has quite a stiff flex it doesn’t shine when jibbing. The Jones Mountain Twin does it a bit better. Overall, the 2017 Jones Ultra Mountain Twin snowboard, is lighter, stronger and snappier than before. It’s a great all-condition board that rides consistently well, with a lively and fun character.
